This week was so much FUN! Wednesday we went to the MOSH, the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville. We toured it and saw all of the exhibits including the Megalodon exhibit. It was a much larger exhibit than I anticipated, and I thought it was really interesting. We also went to see Dynamic Earth inside their Planetarium. They have a much bigger dome than we do at Kika Silva Pla, but I think our sound system and lighting trumps theirs for sure!
Today, we walked over to the Zoo here at Santa Fe, and I got to see that for the first time. I've been suggesting a lot of ideas to my Director, a gift shop being one of them. He's thinking about it and wanted to get some ideas from the Zoo's gift shop.
I love my internship! =)
That trip sounds awesome! Yeah, the Megalodon exhibit was huge, and I can't wait until it comes to Gainesville. The internships go by so much faster when you enjoy them :) What exactly would you put in the gift shop?
ReplyDeletePlanetarium T-shirts, coffee mugs, modeling kits, magnets, etc... I also had this idea to do special pins, and a different pin would be available each month for people to collect! That way we get a lot of returning visitors to the planetarium =)
ReplyDeleteSo do you think the shows at MOSH are better then the ones at your planetarium? The megalodon exhibit looks awesome, I cant wait till it comes here. I think a gift shop is a great idea actually! I remember when I was 5, I got a dinner table place mat of the solar system from a planetarium, MOSH to be exact, and seeing that everyday sparked my interests in space. Amazing how things like that can affect us as kids. I hope you can get that done!
ReplyDeleteDid you see Tonka??
